The Folio - Curation

A folio of work is a collection that represents a phase or period of an artist's work.  Although it will not show the process, it does synthesise the artist's discoveries as resolved artworks.  Each work can stand alone, yet together as a collection, the pieces form a narrative and create a stronger representation of the artist's concepts and visualisations.

This curated collection addresses my refined essential question:

How can visual (art) inquiry enhance learning and literacy across the curriculum?

This curation represents the 'Collection' and 'Presentation' phases of Kahlthau's Information Search ProcessBy limiting my collection to only a select number of resources, I am exhibiting a presentation of findings, that I am confident, summarises my inquiry discoveries.

During my search process, I have been surprised at the rich variety of information that I have been able to source.  In creating my curated collection, using the online tool Padlet, I have selected a range of resources that represents both scholarly research and contemporary practice, in a variety of contexts.  A number of resources use case studies, set in an educational context, to illustrate their findings and strengthen their argument.

By and large, the curation shows the essential question posed in a positive and affirming position to the inclusion of visual (arts) inquiry across the curriculum.  Although my searches did discover some concerns about traditional literacy being ignored, these articles were not focused on my line of inquiry, therefore, they did not meet the requirements for inclusion in this collection.
