Welcome to Artwork One, where I will take you through the process of my own inquiry into Inquiry Learning.

Collectively, there are various models and approaches to inquiry learning, however, the following statements summarise how inquiry learning will be approached in this web journal.
"Inquiry Learning is a constructivist pedagogy and curriculum approach that is student centred and authentic (Alberta Learning, 2004; Kuhlthau, Maniotes, & Caspari, 2007)" (Lupton, 2017, p. 29)
Inquiry Learning "involve[s] finding and using information to answer a question or solve a problem" (Lupton, 2017, p. 29).

I have recorded this process of inquiry learning for the assessment purposes of a unit of work for my Master of Education (Teacher-Librarianship) at the Queensland University of Technology.

Although I am studying teacher-librarianship, I come from a background in Visual Arts and secondary education and this has greatly informed my initial understanding of inquiry learning in education as well as providing a metaphor for my own inquiry journey. The process that an artist engages in, which is reflected in the processes of education in The Arts, has a strong connection with inquiry. For this reason, a visual artist's journey has provided the metaphoric framework for this assessment.
