An artist's studio is a place where the mind is inspired and creative ideas are born.  I am fortunate enough to have a dedicated room that is devoted entirely to my creative endeavours, sharing it often with my 12 year old daughter.

In our studio, we READ books, magazines and digital media or just ABSORB visual delights, musical melodies or textural treats.  We PLAY and TINKER with paper, pens, paints and inks or whatever our latest and favourite medium is.  We COLLECT many, many things that are displayed on shelves and often crammed into every nook and cranny available.  Often we are GIFTED our precious cargo BY OTHERS who 'understand' our needs.  Our many visual journals are witness to our IDEAS, PONDERINGS and EXPERIMENTATIONS that are often INVESTIGATED and DEVELOPED into something more.  At times, our creative play will CULMINATE in finished works.  Folio books and wall space will DISPLAY our finished products.  We SHARE our accomplishments with friends and family when we are brave enough!  Lastly, we REFLECT ourselves on our ideas and achievements which often INFORMS OUR FUTURE ideas and work.

What happens in my studio space is not unlike what happens in other artist's studios. This artistic process that occurs is provocative of what happens in creating inquiry learning.  Please follow ARTWORK ONE to see this process of inquiry learning as revealed through my own inquiry...
